I was made for this. This transaction between God and man. The wonder welling up inside of me of an All-knowing, All-powerful , All-loving God who sends His One and Only Son to rescue me from sin and death, not to mention myself. The more I read of this Father and Son, the Holy Spirit takes that knowledge and applies it to my life and it transacts into an experience. Knowledge becomes understanding, then intimacy, and swells into affection and amazement. And out it comes. Worship!
It is as natural as breathing, yet tremendously more fulfilling. Breathing sustains my life but worship sustains my heart and soul. Only a Great and Glorious God could come up with such an experience. To offer reverence and adoration to the Lord and yet to enjoy and experience such fulfillment in the process is a win-win situation. The more I know of Him, the more I come to love Him and enjoy Him, which then fuels my wanting to know more and more of Him.
Whether I am seeing His character displayed, His work in creation, or the work of His hand in someone’s life through transforming grace, it is glorious to behold! The emotions well up and overflow. All I have to do is take the time to consider Him, meditate on who He is and what He has done through reading the Bible or listening to worship music, even enjoying a beautiful day, and out it comes and my soul is lifted up.
“Come , let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.” Psalm 95:1-7
Yes, worship is my very favorite thing in all this world to do. It is what we are made for, to His Glory and Grace!
